Meet Yusef

Al‑Jarani

Los Angeles, California
Founder & Managing Attorney
Yusef is a highly skilled litigator with a world-class education, elite private and public sector legal experience, and an unwavering commitment to supporting victims of discrimination and unfair trade practices. As a minority who has experienced discrimination, Yusef understands what it feels like to be marginalized because of one’s identity. Having grown up middle class, he also recognizes that most households cannot afford to be deceived or defrauded by big corporations. Unfortunately, not every victim of discrimination or fraud is adequately compensated. Having witnessed numerous cases play out in the courtroom, Yusef knows full-well that a quality lawyer can be the difference between winning and losing—between a just outcome and an unfair one. That is why he started Al-Jarani Law: because he believes everyone, not just the most well off, deserves first-rate representation.

Practice Pillars

World-Class Education
Yusef’s higher education started at the University of Chicago, where he graduated with honors and received numerous accolades, including the Harry S. Truman Scholarship and membership in the Phi Beta Kappa Society. He then ventured off to England after being awarded the prestigious Gates Cambridge Scholarship, where he obtained a Master of Philosophy from the University of Cambridge, one of the best universities in the world.* Yusef completed his legal education at Yale Law School, the number one law school in the U.S.** Yusef’s proven ability to think critically means that sometimes he will see a path to success for his clients that others do not.

Elite Litigation Experience
After law school, Yusef served as a judicial law clerk to federal judges in U.S. District Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals, the appellate court that sits just below the U.S. Supreme Court. In those roles, he obtained rare insight into how cases are decided from a judge’s point of view. Yusef then went on to work at the largest and most successful litigation law firm in the world.* While there, he played an integral role in a number of cases representing Fortune 500 companies, including at trial. Yusef honed and sharpened his skills under some of the very best in the legal profession.

Steadfast Principles and Values
Yusef started Al-Jarani Law because he believes everyone, not just the most well off, deserves first-rate representation. Even before becoming a lawyer, Yusef established a non-profit helping to grow small businesses in Chicago, volunteered in refugee camps in France, and organized protests for a number of social causes. In law school, he interned at the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and in the school’s Rule of Law, Human Rights, and Criminal Justice Clinics. As an attorney, he recently assisted a struggling mother in family court and tenants facing eviction in housing court pro bono. If Yusef can help someone in need, he will.
